Personal statement

Modeling on 19th century examples (Richard Wagner and Elias Lönnrot) of nationalist and religious programs underlying the literary reshapings of cultural mythologies, I am interesting in looking at how the programs of three generations of Roman and Greek poets shape their own mythological narratives -- and how we might use their shapings of mythology to reconstruct what their programs are.

On the non-academic side, I'm training as a classical singer (evidently, one can never have too much of the classic-).
