Support UCB Classics

Your support is vital to assist the Classics Department in its mission—the rigorous, interdisciplinary study and teaching of all aspects of Greco-Roman antiquity. Help us bring the ancient world to life for undergradutes, graduate students, members of the University, and of the public.

Your Gifts at Work

In particular, gifts from generous donors help us:

  • Support graduate students
  • Fund travel and study abroad for undergraduate and graduate students
  • Maintain library collections
  • Support research centers and enhance our resources (Center for Tebtunis Papyri, Nemea Center for Classical Archaeology)
  • Support Berkeley Excavations (Nemea Center for Classical Archaeology)
  • Support faculty research

Spotlight on Giving Opportunities

"The Ronald S. Stroud Graduate Support Fund in Classics": This fund was established in May 2006 to honor Professor Ronald S. Stroud. It was endowed by an anonymous donation of $10,000 with $10,000 of matching funds from the Graduate Division at Berkeley. For now, the interest from the fund will help support a graduate student working in areas pioneered by Ron Stroud—Greek History, epigraphy, archaeology, religion. But ultimately, our goal is to create a fully-endowed graduate fellowship to support a student in these fields, through additional gifts to the fund by friends, colleagues, students and former students of Professor Stroud.
